Lauren and Michael’s intimate elopement at Dovecote in Gerringong on the South Coast of New South Wales was a beautiful reminder that you don’t need a big wedding to make a day feel incredibly meaningful. With just the two of them, surrounded by rolling green hills, grazing cows and the coastline beyond, they created a wedding day that felt completely true to who they are.

Their morning began slowly at their private accommodation, where Lauren helped Michael get ready before slipping away to finish getting ready herself. With no guests, bridal party or distractions, they were able to savour these quiet moments together before becoming husband and wife. Lauren then made her way to the ceremony deck, where Michael saw her for the first time.

Overlooking the rolling hills of Gerringong, with cows grazing peacefully in the distance, they exchanged their vows in an incredibly intimate and emotional ceremony. There was something so special about having the entire moment to themselves — no audience, no expectations, just two people promising their lives to one another in a place that felt like an escape from the rest of the world.

Once they were officially married, they celebrated with champagne and cake on the deck, taking a little time to simply sit, breathe and soak in the feeling of being newly married. With nowhere else they needed to be, they could let the day unfold naturally and enjoy each moment without rushing from one part of the day to the next.

Eventually, we wandered down through the property to the private beach access, exploring the landscape and capturing those quiet just-married moments along the way. From there, the adventure continued as we ventured out to some of the nearby beaches and scenic spots around the South Coast. They explored, laughed, wandered hand in hand and embraced the freedom of having an entire day designed around them.

As the afternoon came to an end, they returned to Dovecote for an intimate dinner prepared by their private chef. After a day spent exploring the coast and celebrating their marriage, they could settle back into the peaceful surrounds of their accommodation, enjoying a beautiful meal together and reflecting on everything the day had brought.

Lauren and Michael’s elopement was intimate, intentional and full of the kind of moments that can easily get lost in a traditional wedding day. From getting ready together, to emotional vows overlooking the hills, champagne and cake, a barefoot wander down to the beach and a private chef dinner at home — their day was centred entirely around the experience of getting married and being together.
