On April 5th 2023, Stacey and Cory eloped in the Otway National Forest. They rented a cottage airbnb nestled into the hills of Apollo Bay, where they spend the day leading up to their elopement and the morning of. They both got ready at their accommodation, yet stayed separate until their first look. Stacey got ready upstairs in the loft with her good friend who also came along as her hair stylist. And Cory stayed downstairs and got ready by himself.
They joined together in the front yard of their AirBnb, for their first look before heading off on their waterfall adventure. It was a very sweet and sentimental moment, filled with a few "holy shits" on Cory's end haha!
They jumped in their car, we followed along behind them and set off to the Otway Ranges, where we would soon meet up with their celebrant Georgia, for their ceremony.
We all joined together at Triplett Falls, and made the walk down to the viewing platform, where Stacey and Cory had envisioned their ceremony backdrop. Soon after arriving, it was all systems go, and the ceremony began. Georgia led them through their vows and a heartfelt ceremony filled with lots of love and laughter. And we signed as their witness'. No other guests in tow.
After the ceremony, we hiked back out to the carpark, said our goodbyes to Georgia, and continued on to Hopetoun Falls not far down the road. Stacey had told us previously that they really wanted an epic waterfall backdrop for their portraits. And Hopetoun Falls provided just that. We adventured right up close, under the falls. Stacey and Cory embracing the adventure and the full experience all day long.
After taking the most epic photos and experiencing the most spectacular scenery. We then headed off to the Red Wood forest, where we would finish the day with celebratory cake, and run wild in the forest. They kept their elopement a secret, only telling their children and their mother who filled in as babysitter on the day. Then 2 weeks later, they had their "engagement party", where they shared a photo of their cake that said "oops we got married" and announced their marriage to their loved ones.
Stacey and Cory completely embraced all that it means to get married YOUR way. And fully embraced the experience of creating a wedding day that felt true to them. It was an absolute honour to have been invited into this experience, to document the love story of these two. Something we will never take for granted. Be sure to check out the visual story below.
