SPRING: SEPT - NOV

Spring is when Victoria truly comes alive. The days are warming up, wildflowers are blooming, and the landscapes are at their greenest. With temperatures around 11°C – 20°C, and the slight chance of an occasional spring shower - it's pretty near perfect for outdoor elopements all around the state, from the coast to the mountains! With crisp mornings, sunny days, lush landscapes! It's ideal for couples who want a garden elopement, a forest setting, or to hike through scenic trails without the summer crowds.

Best Activities to Include:
Picnics, Hiking, Waterfall Chasing

summer: Dec - feb

Sunny and vibrant, most ideal for coastal elopements. Just be mindful of those peak holiday travel times. Average temperatures ranging from 20°C – 35°C, with low rainfall, but can have the occasional summer storm. You'll have the perk of long daylight hours and lots of sunshine! When paired with a coastal environment, you'll enjoy stunning golden hour light, ocean breezes, and lively backdrops! Inland regions are much more likely for a heatwave, so we suggest sticking around the sea!

Best Activities to Include:
Swimming, Surfing, Kayaking, Sailing, Heli Flights

autumn: mar - may

Rich colours, cooler days—especially magical in regions like the Dandenong Ranges, High Country & the Yarra Valley. With cooler temperatures around 10°C – 22°C, and little rainfall, autumn makes for the perfect season to elope! Crisp mornings, still days, and gorgeous foliage! Autumn is arguably Victoria’s most romantic season. It brings golden trees, moody skies, and ideal conditions for outdoor ceremonies without the summer heat. This season is made for cozy touches—like campfires, warm drinks, and layered styling.

Best Activities to Include:
Hot Air Balloon Rides, Exploring, Horseback Riding

when is the best time of year

In Victoria

winter: jun - aug

Moody skies, snowy peaks, cozy vibes. Great for mountain escapes or intimate indoor ceremonies. The coolest of temperatures of the year around 5°C – 15°C, and higher rainfall around the state. You'll find overcast skies, foggy mornings, and snow in alpine areas. But don't let that scare you off! Winter in Victoria is ideal for those who love cozy, atmospheric vibes. With fewer tourists and stunning soft light, it's the season for fireplace dinners, snow-dusted ceremonies, or running wild in the rain!

Best Activities to Include:
Hot Springs, Romantic Candle-lit Dinners, Whale Watching, Skiing

how to
elope in victoria

Getting legally married in Victoria is simple, but there are a few things to note: You must submit a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month before your elopement date. Both parties must be over 18 and provide valid ID. You’ll need two witnesses (over 18) present at the ceremony. If it’s just the two of you, as your photographers we can witness for you! And last, but most importantly our ceremony must be conducted by a registered celebrant, who will also assist you with all the legal paperwork and requirements noted above!
